altRUSNANOPRIZE is awarded annually to the authors of scientific and technological developments and inventions in the field of nanotechnology that have been applied in mass production with a yearly turnover of at least $10 million.

The Prize Laureate is selected by means of International Prize Awarding Committee memebers’ voting. Twenty outstanding scientists and major international corporations’ representatives from Russia, Japan, Germany, Switzerland, China, USA, Canada and the Netherlands have formed the Award Committee of the RUSNANOPRIZE in 2015.

RUSNANOPRIZE 2015 SHORTLIST ANNOUNCED

The Expert Group of the International Nanotechnology Prize RUSNANOPRIZE 2015 has announced the shortlist of three finalists for further selection of the Laureate(s) who will be announced at the Rusnanoprize Award Ceremony. In 2015 the following nominees has formed the short-list of the Prize:

- Armand Paul Alivisatos, Distinguished Professor, Director of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, University of California, Berkeley, Samsung Distinguished Professor of Nanotechnology, Director of Kavli Energy Nanoscience Institute, nominated for colloidal inorganic nanocrystals as building blocks for electronic displays, biomedical diagnostics & solar technology.

- Yury Gogotsi, Distinguished University Professor and Trustee Chair at Drexel University, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Director of the A.J. Drexel Nanomaterials Institute, Member of the Board of Materials Research Society, MRS and Patrice Simon, Professor in Materials Sciences at Paul Sabatier University nominated for the development of materials for electrochemical capacitors and formulation of basic principles for matching sizes of pores and electrolyte ions, which found their successful commercialization in carbide-derived carbon, supercapacitors, ultracapacitors, edlc, electrochemical capacitor technologies and production.

- Huamin Zhang, Full professor at Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences nominated for the research development and application of vanadium flow battery, used in production of vanadium flow battery energy storage system, stacks, membranes, bipolar plate, electrolytes and electrodes.

RUSNANOPRIZE 2015 shall be awarded for research conducted in the fields of energy efficiency and green technologies which combine knowledge-based approach, highly demanded technological solutions, vast range of opportunities for nanotech application as well as global strategic influence on industries and every day life.

At the next and final stage, this year’s winner will be chosen from among the three shortlist nominees by the Prize Committee consisting of 20 prominent outstanding scientists and major international corporations’ representatives from Russia, Japan, Germany, Switzerland, China, USA, Canada and the Netherlands.

The award ceremony will be held at the Open Innovations Forum on the 28th of October in Moscow.
